10,000 March for Peace in Vancouver |
|
JANUARY 18, 2003, VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA: At least 10,000 marched in Vancouver as part of the International Day of Action to say No to War On Iraq and for Peace and Justice in the middle east. Some estimated the crowd to be as large as 20,000. The Vancouver action coincided with similar actions in 33 other Canadian towns and cities, many American cities ( including over 500,000 in Washington D.C.), and a total of 31 countries worldwide. Vancouver East Member of Parliament Libby Davies ( NDP ) spoke at the rally and interviewed marchers for the video below. A similar International Action is planned for February 15, including a Vancouver component. |
