A report from the Vancouver rally, part of a world-wide event on April 24 - the 44th birthday of Mumia Abu-Jamal - called "Millions for Mumia".
American Political Prisoner, Mumia Abu-Jamal

Most British Columbians, in fact most Canadians, haven't yet heard of Mumia Abu-Jamal, and to date it has been primarily young people who have taken up his cause here.

The April 24 Vancouver rally was organized by the Vancouver Coalition to Save Mumia. Organizations in attendance ranged from the International Socialists (IS), to Anti-Racist Action (ARA) to the Young New Democrats (YND).

The left opposition at the May 1999 Canadian Labour Congress convention tabled a motion calling on the CLC endorse the campaign to Free Mumia. Unfortunately it never made it to the floor and will be decided on by the CLC Executive. Stay tuned. . . The campaign that has grown to support Mumia is reminiscent of earlier campaigns for Nelson Mandella or Leonard Pelletier.

Perservance furthers.
