Kids in Vancouver are facing a $12 million provincial cut to their schools and programs
"In the coming budget year, Vancouver schools face total cuts of up to $12 million due to a lack of provincial funding. This includes cuts to the Inner City Schools program of $3 million or 36% of the funding provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development for hot lunches for more than 10,000 children daily."
"It also means cuts to counseling, support for at-risk students, Community Schools and alternative schooling programs."
"All of our kids will suffer if these important programs are reduced or eliminated."
"The rest of the $12 million budget reduction could mean fewer teachers and support staff, fewer classroom resources and other cuts that will hurt our kids and their ability to learn."
