Burnaby forum on changes in the Canadian Military: Co-opting Courage |
|
In the last decades of the Twentieth Century, the Canadian military defined itself as a peace-keeping force. After 2002, processes of continental integration following 9/11 began to influence the self-definition of the Canadian Forces. Our military now presents itself as a fighting, not a peace keeping force. As well the military has changed the style and strategies of recruiting, and the messages it sends to our youth. Canadians need to look closely at how and why this has happened, and whether this is the direction we truly want to take. Click on the links below for webcasts.
