FEBRUARY 17, 2003, VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA: Comic book hero Slash Gordon appeared in the flesh, at a B.C. Nurses' Union press conference on the eve of the BC Liberal government's new budget. BCNU told the Campbell Liberals to reinvest in health care instead of slashing hospitals, beds, services, programs, nurses and support workers. The Slash Gordon skit was developed from BCNU's Slash Gordon's More New Errors in Health Care comic book. BCNU printed 100,000 copies of the comic and have handed them out to the public at events around the province. 35,000 were inserted into Vancouver's Georgia Straight weekly newspaper. |
