Protestors Win Award - "Democracy Street", the group APEC protestors formed to press their case against the RCMP, was selected this week to receive the Carol Geller Human Rights Award, plus a cash prize which will be used for legal fees in the Public Inquiry on the actions of the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) during last November's APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation ) Summit in Vancouver.

Protest Background 1. - this week focusing on (now deposed) General Suharto of Indonesia.

Best Buddies: Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, according to leaked documents, ordered the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) to brutalize, arrest and strip search student protestors' at the University of British Columbia during the APEC Summit in November 1997. Apparently he did this so that his buddy, (now deposed) Indonesian Dictator Suharto would be "comfortable" during his stay in Canada Chretien and Suharto
