BOMBS AWAY!
Airshow Canada, Globalization & the New International Arms Trade

working TV #104, RT: 27:30,
Co-produced with End the Arms Race (EAR), & the Fraser Valley Chapter
of Project Ploughshare
s
first broadcast Nov. 21 1997

A look at the Vancouver connection to the growing International Arms Trade, through the Abbotsford International Airshow, held in August just outside Vancouver. This video focused on an accompanying event, ComDef '97, (Common Defense based in Washington D.C.).

ComDef '97 was an arms trade conference where weapons merchants met customers. Many weapons buyers were from countries like Indonesia where dictators regularly use these weapons against their own citizens to suppress democratic dissent.
